From Wall Street to Wallpaper

I was a stockbroker for New York Hedge Funds for eleven years before I made the biggest trade of my career—I walked off Wall Street in pursuit of something more creative and entrepreneurial. In 2021, I started a Home & Garden blog, “Nestled in New Canaan,” in which I immersed myself in learning new types of trades. Within a few short years, Maggie Bentley Designs was born from those very creations and inspirations.

My approach is “Pretty & Practical,” which I attribute to my experiences growing up in both New England and the South. The ‘pretty’ is inspired by the colorful, historic, and charming Charleston aesthetic. The ‘practical’ evolved from years of personal experience transforming my various Boston and New York apartments from dreary to dreamy and decorating my current home in New Canaan, Connecticut.

Pretty & Practical carries across my designs in a multitude of ways. I maintain the budget with a balance of subtle bargain treasures and stunning splurges, craft clever yet charming custom concepts for storage solutions, find form and function within finicky floor plans, and I source prints and decor from aspiring artisans as a means of both saving expense and delivering distinction. I strive to create designs that perfectly pair sensibility with style.

Whether you’re tackling a full home design project or eager to transform a small space, fancy a tailored tablescape for your next party, need a guide for your own DIY, or simply delight to dabble in my decor store and DIY designs, I’d love for you to consider Maggie Bentley Designs.

I’d love to hear from you!
